My AA membership was due to run out on 1 June and I received the renewal letter in early May. As I had just purchased a new car which included three years' breakdown cover, I phoned the AA and told the young man not to renew my membership. He was most resistant, and tried, for at least 15 minutes, to dissuade me. However, I insisted that my membership be terminated.
On 3 June I noticed that £49.95 had been taken from my credit card. I immediately phoned the AA. A young woman apologised profusely and said I should get a refund within a maximum of 21 days. It is now 24 days from that promise and still no refund. ML, Chorley
The AA says it takes a minimum of 48 hours for a refund to be paid but that they quote up to 21 days. We cannot imagine why they need that long for the money to clear. Your money took even longer to find its way back to your account. This was due to the ubiquitous excuse of an administrative error. Even after the AA told us the money would be with you, you had to wait a further four days. The AA eventually agreed to pay you a further £30 by way of an apology for the delays.
